Gujaratis among those injured/killed in Nairobi attack, Modi condemns the terror act

At least four Gujaratis are believed to be injured/killed in Nairobi mall attack.Three of them are women from Jamnagar and Dwarka districts, one is from Bhuj. Exact toll will be known only after normalization of situation there and official list is announced. The ministry of External Affairs in India confirms death of two Indians, and injury to four.

DeshGujarat talked to a Gujarati NRI in Nairobi. The gentleman said that many more Gujaratis are feared dead. He said a junior master chef event was held for Gujarati community in same mall at the time of attack. It was largely participated by Shahs, Lohanas and Kutchis. The event was held on upper parking lot in the mall.

He said total figure of those killed in the attack is 60, and 175 are injured. Nehal Vekaria Rohila Dutta, Neha Mashru, Rajan Solanki are some of those from Gujarat who are confirmed dead.

He said Swaminarayan Maninagar gaadi sansthan volunteers in Kenya are actively helping Gujarati/Indian families in trouble. Blood donation and other relief activities are actively participated by Gujrati NRIs associated with Swaminarayan Maninagar gaadi.

Meanwhile in his speech to NRIs, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi today morning condemned the Nairobi attack. Modi began his speech with Nairobi issue. He mentioned that among the victims there were Gujaratis too. Modi condoled deaths. He said he is sure the Kenyan government will uproot the elements who committed this. Modi remembered Mahatma Gandhi’s message of peace and humanity. He said in the name of various ‘ism’ terrorism is strengthening its root, and it is challenging us. Modi said terrorism is new kind of warfare.

The ministry of External Affairs, India though its Kenya mission has confirmed deaths of only two Indians, while four are injured. Indian injured in Nairobi attack: Smt. Manjula Sridhar, Mukta Jain, Kumari Poorvi Jain, Shri Natarajan Ramachandran. According to the ministry of External Affairs, the Indian High Commission in Nairobi is in touch with families of Sridhar Natarajan(40), Paramshu Jain(8) who tragically died in the attack.
