Vinu Shingala murder case: 9 including Jayrajsinh Jadeja acquitted, one gets life term

The Gujarat High Court today acquitted three convicts in Vinu Shingala murder case due to lack of evidence against them.
-There were total ten accused.
-Out of them, four including present Gondal MLA Jayrajsinh Jadeja were acquitted by Rajkot sessions court in year 2009 on the basis of benefit of doubt.
-Four other accused in the case had been sentenced to life imprisonment by sessions court.
-The verdict of life sentence to four was challenged in the high court.
-The high court has today acquitted three of four while one accused Viramdevsinh continues to face life sentence.
Detail of the case, and Jayrajsinh Jadeja:
Vinu Shingala, the Rajkot district president of BJP, was murdered on March 19, 2004 at his residence near Satya Sai Heart Hospital in Rajkot. The police investigation revealed Jadeja had conspired murder and had hired sharpshooters to this end, who stayed in Rajkot for a month before executing the crime.
Gobar Patel, the father of the deceased had lodged a complaint against 10 people including Jayrajsinh Jadeja who was the sitting MLA when Shingala was murdered. Shingala and Jayrajsinh had a dispute over ownership of a piece of land located near Gondal town, about 35 km from Rajkot.
Jadaeja was also accused in the murder of one Nilesh Rayani, an associate of Singala.
Jadeja was given a special parol to campaign for the 2007 Assembly polls wherein the BJP had given him ticket though he had been in jail since 2005. Jadeja lost to NCP candidate Chandu Waghasia by just over 500 votes. In 2012 general elections of Gujarat assembly, Jadeja who was out of the jail contested against Keshubhai Patel led GPP founder Gordhan Zadafia and won the poll as BJP candidate.
