Soon, a tent city welcoming tourists at Mandvi beach

Ahmedabad, 27 December 2013

Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited has initiated tender process for proposed tent accommodation facility at Mandvi beach in Kutch district.

The proposed size of tent city will be in a limit of 50 AC and non AC tents. The tents shall be Swiss Cottage tents only. A private operator will set up, erect, furnish and operate tent cottages and earn revenue from sale of accommodation. TCGL would provide land, power and water related services, broachers/website and radio jingles for promotion, and get lump sum amount of revenue share.

The tent city with function during January-June period. Daily AC tent accommodation could be offered at Rs. 5,000 per tent including meal and taxes. Non AC tent will be available for Rs. 4,000.

It should be mentioned that Gujarat enjoys longest coastline in India, but there’s not one beach destination in Gujarat matching to national or international standards in terms of tourist facilities and activities. Mandvi is one of the beaches the tourism corporation intends to develop. However various efforts of setting up infrastructure facilities at Mandvi have been failed in the past. The tourists avoid staying at Mandvi due to lack of proper accommodation/meal facility and sea-side activities.

With the successful experience of tent city accommodations at Rann Utsav, the Tourism corporation has replicated same model at Mandvi beach too.
