Kejriwal asked to follow the model code of conduct, faces protest throught Gujarat visit

Patan, 5 March 2014

Aam Aadmi Party(AAM) leader Arvind Kejriwal’s convoy was stopped today afternoon at Radhanpur by district police for suspected case of violation of the model code of conduct. The convoy was moving in rally style. Dozens of local people had gathered on both sides of the road to protest Kejriwal’s visit with black flags and placards mentioning “American agent go back, enemy of Narmada project go back.”

The traffic situation was chaotic at this point and many more people had started joining the protest against Kejriwal.

In reference to the implementation of model code of conduct, long convoy of cars, and chaos around it, Kejriwal and supporters were stopped by police and questioned whether they had permission to hold such rally. Kejriwal in his reply told police that they could stop only those cars with party stickers, but rest of the cars should be allowed to go ahead.

Those present there said Kejriwal was behaving in rough manner with police and telling cops, “Mujhe kanoon mat sikhaye.”

It should be mentioned here that the election commission of India has today declared the schedule of upcoming Lok Sabha general elections and the model code of conduct has been immediately made effective.

In a predicted style, Kejriwal converted the occasion into Modi-bashing and started pointing allegations against Modi. Traditionally anti-Modi section of mainstream media started flashing stories of Kejriwal’s detention and arrest when the incident was just about brief questioning.

AAP is too hungry for publicity over this minor affair that it has arranged a press conference in Ahmedabad over this issue and diverted party leader Sanjay Singh to Ahmedabad to address it.

Collector Thakkar’s version

“There was no detention or arrest of Arvind Kejriwal. Nor was any case registered against him. He was stopped to explain his roadshow and asked to get permission for his cavalcade as per the Code. Since the roadshow passed through this area after the Election Commission announced the poll schedule and the coming into effect of the Model Code of Conduct, we stopped his convoy of cars and asked him about it. Most of the cars had mediapersons in them and we were not aware of it this. So we asked for an explanation. Arvind Kejriwal and his two colleagues who were called in were offered tea. That’s about all that happened.”

Car window broken

Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal’s car has been attacked by unidentified person with stick. A window glass of Kejriwal’s car was broken when his convoy was passing through Kharohi village near Bhachau. Kejriwal is throughout facing protest during his Gujarat visit due to various issues including his AAP’s anti-Narmada project stand, pro-Naxal stand, dubious stand on Kashmir and funding from America.

Arrest me, arrest me, arrest me………!!

Stunt, arrogance, disrespect to law enforcement agency, hunger for headline hunt!
