Before launching BJP’s final phase whirlwind election campaign from the northern Indian state Jammu and Kashmir, BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today reached Katra to pay obeisance at the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.

Modi arrived in a special private plane at the Udhampur airfield of the Indian Air Force from where he took a helicopter to reach Katra base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. Modi hired horse to trek up to the shrine from Katra. Modi will travel by helicopter to Hira Nagar town in Kathua district of Jammu region to formally launch the party’s final phase election campaign. Thereafter, Modi would take the chopper to reach the Udhampur airfield from where he would return to Delhi in the afternoon.

Special security teams comprising police personnel from Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir police are looking after Modi’s security.
