Narendra Modi calls meeting of Gujarat BJP MLAs on Tuesday

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has called a meeting of BJP MLAs in Gandhinagar on Tuesday at 5.00 pm. Shree Modi will be free on Tuesday after months long hectic campaign, electoral strategy meets, post-campaign meetings with party’s top leadership and RSS in Delhi and final phase of polling which also involves Varanasi seat which he is contesting.

According to those closely watching Gujarat’s political developments, Modi during his meeting with RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat and party chief Rajnath Singh discussed exit poll results and seat projections that are already supplied to party by all major external survey agencies and party’s internal mechanism. Shri Modi also sought guidence on his role in any of three conditions – clear majority, near majority or no majority to NDA. In any eventuality, as Mr. Modi has been told to shift his base to Delhi to play a national role, the name of next Gujarat Chief Minister, it is understood has also been discussed and finalized in meetings in Delhi.

Shri Modi has been Chief Minister of Gujarat continuously since 2001. He has become synonym of BJP in Gujarat. Before going to Delhi to play a role in national politics as per party’s and RSS’s wish, he will need to deliver his message to Gujarat MLAs on future scenario. Modi is likely to assure Gujarat MLAs his support and care for Gujarat and party’s Gujarat unit from Delhi. He is likely to thank his team for cooperation and make a point that individual person is not important but mission is.

State government’s spokesperson minister Nitin Patel said he was unaware about the agenda and purpose of a meeting on Tuesday which has been called in assembly complex. DeshGujarat contacted a BJP MLA who said he had received the invitation through SMS. He said the meeting is not a special one and it is like a routine post-polls meeting.

Gujarat will keep watch over this meeting because at present the topic of discussion in every Gujarati home is Modi’s possible successor in Gujarat.

The names being discussed in media are Amit Shah, Anandiben Patel, Nitinbhai Patel, Saurabh Patel, RC Faldu, Surendra Patel, Parshottam Rupala, Vajubhai Vala and lately also Bhikhubhai Dalsania. But these names are just speculated by media. No name has actually emerged from the inner decisive circle of the party so far.

The election results will be out on 16th.
