CR Patil raises Railway issues of south Gujarat in Lok Sabha

New Delhi, 16 July, 2014

BJP Member of Parliament representing Navsari Lok Sabha seat in Surat district of south Gujarat CR Patil on Tuesday demanded Divisional Railway Manager(DRM) office in Surat for quick solution to complains regarding railways in Surat in particular and south Gujarat in general.

Patil while speaking in Lok Sabha said: Surat is the city where people from India’s every village come and live. However there are shortcomings when it comes to railway service there. There’s a need of one DRM office, so that problems can be solved easily.

He said Navsari has become a separate district for last nine years, but benefits it should get as a separate district are not given till today. There’s no increase in Navsari and Surat’s quota. During vacation period, Mumbai head office absorbs entire quota. I request Railway minister that he should direct his officers to ensure that quota assigned to specific station must be used for that station only.

Patil said Surat is a centre for diamond and textile industries, and thousands of youths use railway for up-down between Surat and Vapi. Due to shortage of boggy, people sit over the boggy. They have pass and ticket, but there’s no space to sit. As they sit over the coach, sometime young boys of 25-30 age die and their family faces toughest time.

He demanded additional train for up-down passengers and also sought addition of boggy in existing trains.

He also raised the issue of pending works of Surat-Jalgaon double decker. He demanded increase in speed to avoid bottle neck on railway route to Andhra, UP and Bihar.

He sought trains to Patna via Varanasi. He complained about lower height of platform which causes accidents. He said there have been incidents of death and cutting of leg due to lack of raised platform.

He demanded conversion of Kosamba, Umarpada narrow gauge line to broad gauge and extension of same line to Nandurbar. He sought a train connecting Surat to Mahuva. He said existing Gujarat Queen train travels from Valsad to Ahmedabad and then halts at Ahmedabad station for entire day. If it is extended to Palanpur, same train can travel back to Valsad by evening.

BJP MP elected from Mehsana Lok Sabha seat in north Gujarat, Jayshreeben Patel said Mehsana-Taranga broad gauge should be allotted Rs. 50 crore. She said the said line was mentioned in year 2010-11 budget. She sought conversion of Kadi, Katosan, Bechraji, Ranuj railway line to broad gauge. She sought permanent stoppage of Ashram Express train at Unjha and Mehsana railway stations.
