Gunnebo India announces capacity expansion in Gujarat


Ahmedabad, 6 August, 2014

Gunnebo, a subsidiary of the Swedish-based Gunnebo Security Group, today announced plans to fortify its India presence by enhancing and expanding capacity at its manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat. Earlier this year, Gunnebo had increased investments in its Halol plant by Rs. 30 crores (over Euros 3 million). The new investments will be utilized towards enhancing existing production capacity of traditional physical security products as well as will also be extended to the special ATM-line to meet global standards.

Gunnebo’s Halol manufacturing facility is one of the largest among top three manufacturing facilities worldwide. The Halol facility, ISO 9001& 14001 certified, has manufacturing processes which are in line with international standards. In 2012, Gunnebo strengthened its manufacturing capabilities by consolidating the entire manufacturing line from Chennai to Halol with the unit delivering an annual conglomerated growth rate of more than 30 per cent (number of products produced per day) since 2010. Gunnebo India has nearly doubled its employee strength in last four years and aims to boost employment opportunities to leverage India’s unmatched engineering talent.

Buoyed by the fresh investments and augmented capacity, Halol facility also houses Group’s global R&D center.Gunnebo aims to establish India as a global R&D hub, catering to group’s Indian and worldwide demand. Keeping innovation and ‘globalization at the cornerstone, the centralized R&D center will innovate existing products, develop new locally relevant products demanded by emerging markets. The Halol plant has been responsible for some interesting innovations including a first of its kind Biometrics safes, 2n1 safes, modular lockers, high-end lumina lockers, fire extinguishers under Minimax brand,etc
