15,000 square meter Agritech Asia 2014 exhibition opens in Gandhinagar


Ahmedabad, 3 September 2014

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt. Ananiben Patel inaugurated a 3-day long ‘Agri-Tech Asia-2014’ exhibition at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, this morning. The event is the precursor of the forthcoming Gujarat Government’s Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit-2015 to be held at the same venue in January-2015.

The 3-day long ‘Agri-Tech Asia-2014’ exhibition, spread over 15,000 sq. meters areas, has attracted participation from countries like USA, Israel, Belgium, Cyprus, Italy, Spain, Japan, Germany, Canada, Holland and others and over 200 national and international companies working in the agriculture field.

The Chief Minister said this international exhibition will provide knowledge to the farmers about the latest techniques, equipments and information being used in agriculture and animal-husbandry & dairy industry.

Smt. Patel urged the farmers, animal breeders and dairy producers to take maximum benefits from the knowledge available at the exhibition. It will also open-up a new direction for the farmers to grow maximum crops with minimum efforts and instant sprouting with usage of proper formulation of seeds and fertilization, she added.

Later, Smt. PateL, Gujarat Agriculture Minister Mr. Babubhai Bokhiriya and council of ministers of the state government made an entourage of the exhibition. During this, they had also taken briefings about crops, fruits, seeds, vegetables, and latest agricultural equipments and techqniues at some of the visited stalls.

The ‘Agri-Tech Asia-2014’ exhibition will remain open for citizens, agriculturists, and animal breeders between September 3 and 5 from 10:00 – 18:00 hours.

Workshop on Cattle breed improvement

Gujarat Gauseva and Gauchar Vikas Board and Kamdhenu University will jointly organize a two-day national workshop on National Mission For Genetic Improvement of Indigenous Breeds of Livestock of India. The workshop which is going to be held at Chharodi Gurukul will be opened by Governor Dr. OP Kohli. According to Dr. Vallabh Kathiria, the workshop will discuss both ways – traditional and biotechnology methods for improvement of desi breeds and increased milk production. NDDB Chairman, Vice Chancellors and scientists of various universities, technocrat, volunteer institutions involved in cattle activities etc will participate in this workshop which will ultimately release a white paper that shall be useful for planning and execution in this field.
