Situation in Ahmedabad’s Shahpur area is peaceful and normal today after incidents of violence on Sunday evening.

Traffic movement is normal and local Muslims are celebrating Bakra-Eid festival is being celebrated routinely.

Meanwhile Shahpur Police has filed two separate complaints in connection with yesterday’s incidents. This involves a complaint against over a dozen accused regarding an attempt of murder and loot of revolver of sub inspector.

Additional police force and Rapid Action Force deployment has been made in Shahpur, Dariapur, Kalupur, Juhapura and other sensitive areas of Ahmedabad.

Youth dead

Ashrafkhan Rafiqkhan Pathan(20) resident of Moto Vankarvas, Shahpur who was suffered bullet injury yesterday has been declared dead at 8.00 am today in VS hospital where he was undergoing treatment. His burial completed peacefully in the afternoon on Monday.

It should be noted that crime-branch team was attacked in Shahpur area on Sunday evening when it was in-search of an accused in Rangila chowky locality. A group of local Muslims had attacked Crime Branch team with bottles, stones and crude bomb following which, police had lobbed around 70 tear gas shells and fired 7 rounds. A group of local Muslims had attacked three police men including police sub inspector of Navrangpura police station and snatched away a loaded revolver. Accused police team was searching for was involved in cow slaughter case. Over 90% Muslim populated Shahpur/Mirzapur area is hub of slaughter activities in Ahmedabad. Ahead of Bakra-Eid, Ahmedabad police had kept strict vigil against illegal smuggling and slaughtering of cows this year. After two incidents of clashes between police and cow smugglers on Friday night and Saturday evening, police team was attacked on Sunday.
