Gujarat Congress today in a note reacted to today’s results of local body bypolls.

State party president Arjun Modhwadia said that in local body elections, local issues and equations are effective. Bypoll results mostly are in favor of ruling party. Due to local pressure and government machinery at work, district panchayat and taluka panchayat results also favor ruling party. However Congress has won 6 out of 13 municipality seats in today’s result. Congress has snatched away 4 seats from BJP. Congress has also won 6 seats of taluka panchayats.

Modhwadia further mentioned in his note that Congress had recently snatched away three assembly seats from BJP in Deesa, Mangrol and Khambhalia.

He said Congress has increased its percentage of votes and cut down the percentage of votes of BJP.

He further said that Congress has given toucgh fight to BJP in Kankaria ward election of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation where BJP has been powerful for last many years.
