Seoul, 15 October 2014
A “Vibrant Gujarat” campaign was showcased during two roadshows in South Korea, the Indian embassy here said.
The roadshows were organised by a delegation headed by state Science and Technology Secretary S.J. Haider and comprised industrialists, officials and consultants from Gujarat.
They have been conducting a series of meetings with leading Korean corporations, visiting centres of excellence and organising road shows based on the upcoming ‘Vibrant Gujarat’ Summit scheduled to be held Jan 11-13, 2015.
A roadshow was held in Seoul Wednesday in association with the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ICCK) and the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI).
At the inaugration of the event, Seungcheol Lee, FKI vice-chairman and CEO, encouraged Korean companies to actively explore emerging business opportunities in India, which was on the way to becoming an industrial powerhouse with a huge market.
India’s Ambassador Vishnu Prakash outlined the array of reforms being undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sweep aside regulatory bottlenecks, streamline procedures, speed up decision-making and allow for online applications and clearances. He invited South Korea to be India’s developmental partner.
Haider gave a detailed presentation on the strengths and industrial climate in Gujarat, which was one of the very few power-surplus states in the country, with high quality infrastructure.
Another road show was held Tuesday in Ulsan city in cooperation with the Ulsan Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
Ulsan is the biggest industrial hub in South Korea and home base of Hyundai and other leading Korean conglomerates.
