Prakash Mehta becomes cabinet minister in Maharashtra, celebrations at Una in Gujarat

Devendra Fadnavis was sworn-in as the chief minister of the first BJP government of Maharashtra at a gala public function here Friday.
Nine other ministers also took the oath.
Among the cabinet ministers one minister is Prakash Mehta who is a Gujarati from Una town in Saurashtra region of Gujarat. Mehta’s induction in Maharashtra government was celebrated by people of Una with crackers and sweets.
Mehta in reaction to his induction while speaking to a Gujarati news channel said that though he is Gujarat, he has been elected from seat where there are maximum Marathi voters. He gave a credit of his victory to his party for which people voted.
Mehta’s family is in business of chai-patti(tea). He has been elected from Ghatkopar in 1990,1995,1999,2004 too.
Mehta also served the Bhartiya Janata Party in various capacities from Mandal Secretary to the President of Mumbai BJP. He has been BJYM president of Ghatkopar, Mumbai, has been president of North East district, Mumbai.
He has been cabinet minister of Tourism, Consumer Protection, Excise and Guardian minister of Mumbai suburban district in former Shiv Sena-BJP government in Maharashtra.
He is Chairman of Vishwatmak Om Gurudev College of Engineering.
