Gujarat cadre IAS Hasmukh Adhia is new financial services secretary of India

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has also approved the appointment of Shri Hasmukh Adhia, IAS (Gujarat cadre:1981), at present in the cadre, as Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance vice Shri Gurdial Singh Sandhu, IAS (Rajasthan cadre:1980), on his relinquishing the charge of the post.
Empanelment of Hasmukh Adhia for central deputation was finalized a few days back. Till then Adhia was considered a front-runner for the post of Chief Secretary of Gujarat.
Shri Hasmukh Adhia is an IAS officer of 1981 batch, till now he was working as Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department, Government of Gujarat.
Earlier, Shri Hasmukh Adhia was Principal Secretary Education Department from April 2008 to January, 2013, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Gujarat from May 2004 to May 2006. Prior to this, he has also worked as Director, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Industry, New Delhi from 1994 to 1999. Shri Adhia has also held the position of Industries Commissioner, Managing Director, Gujarat Industrial Investment Corporation as well as Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation.
Adhia was one of the key IAS officers in former Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s team.
The transfers come amid the Finance Ministry preparing the work for Budget 2015-16.
