Notorious gang operator and land mafia Bali Dangar has been arrested by Rajkot police from a location near Dhoraji town in Rajkot district. Bali’s arrest had become prestige issue for Rajkot police, as anger among people of Rajkot was only growing due to police’s failure to arrest him. Even when police was in search of Bali, he and his gang members allegedly had open fired on one complainant bungalow in Rajkot on Diwali night. Bali has been arrested in the past too, but he comfortably walked free after a few dates in court. This time police will need to ensure that he doesn’t walk free after some court appearances. Police will also need to crack down on all members of Bali gang. As one of the victims of gang Govindbhai Patel has said the gang has around 100-150 members and if two-three go to jail, others continue to operate from outside. Gujarat Police Chief himself had recently visited Rajot and held a meeting with all senior police officials of Rajkot city and district to press for immediate arrest of Bali Dangar and restoration of normalcy in crime-hit Rajkot city which is considered capital of Saurashtra region of Gujarat.

Police Commissioner Mohan Jha said that Dangar and his aid Arjun Jhalu both were arrested between 1.30 and 2.00 am from near Dhoraji town. Dangar has been in prison in past for number of offenses. He has been in jail even under PASA in the past. Both Dangar and Jhalu are wanted in two crime cases in Rajkot city and one in Rajkot rural. They will be sent to jail under PASA for these old cases. In future they can be sent to PASA for a new case registered against them too. Bali was hiding in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Junagadh range as per the primary detail available.
