Gujarat Congress holds rally on Cotton price issue, Vaghela absent, criticized by party workers

Gujarat Congress today held a rally in Surendranagar district to demand proper prices of cotton, groundnut, paddy and other farm produce.
Addressing the farmers, Gujarat Congress president Arjun Modhwadia said that it was Congress party that had waived Rs. 70,000 crore debt on farmers. He said Congress government increased prices of agriculture produce since 2004 at regular interval, and last year during Congress rule the price of cotton was Rs.1100 which has come down to Rs. 600-800 at present.
He demanded minimum support price(MSP) for Cotton at Rs. 1500, and more CCI centers to make purchase of cotton possible in 15 kms radius.
Modhwadia also spoke against black market of seeds and fertilizer. He raised voice against duplicate seeds.
Congress rally was skipped by leader of opposition Shankersinh Vaghela who yesterday sitting in his AC chamber in Gandhinagar was giving loud statements over Cotton prices issue. Lot of Congress workers were doubting integrity of ‘five-star’ Leader of opposition with RSS background. Congress leaders Bhaljibhai Solanki, Somabhai Patel, Hirabhai Patel, Haribhai Doriya, Parakshramsinh Zala, Harisinh Rajput, Pratapsinh Barad, Raiyabhai Rathod etc were part of the protest rally.
