Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today wished greater co-operation in trade and commerce between Gujarat and Bhutan in various fields and particularly in the energy sector.
Speaking with a high-level delegation of Bhutan which called on her here, she invited industrialists and delegates to the coming Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit – 2015. She also complimented them on Bhutan Day.
The Chief Minister said that representatives of as many as five political parties of Bhutan visiting Gujarat at a time should set a unique example of high democratic traditions of a small country like Bhutan to the world.
She appealed to the delegation they must visit Vadnagar heritage town in north Gujarat, which was mentioned by Chinese traveler Huen Tsang about existence of Buddhist stupas at Vadnagar besides Nalanda.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Bhutan, she pointed out how he had briefed the country about Gujarat’s ‘Vanche Gujarat’ campaign to popularize books circulating library. The same methodology could be used in linking the departments concerned with the present delegation from Bhutan.
Mrs. Patel also briefed the delegation about Gujarat’s policy of ‘Sauna Sath; Sauna Vikas’ and other innovations in ‘Samras Gram Yojna’, women’s empowerment, reserving 33 per cent of seats for women in the police force, people’s participation in constructing toilets in every home, freeing children from the malnutrition, linking tribal villages with Wi-Fi, BRTS, Sabarmati Riverfront and all round development of the state.
