‘Gujarat govt to play facilitator for corporates at Vibrant Summit-2015’

Gandhinagar

Gujarat Government will play the role of a “facilitator” in providing a global investment platform for foreign as well as local companies at upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Summit (VGS) here.

“This time we are foucssing more on providing a global investment platform for business houses. Our role will mainly be of a facilitator this time,” said state Finance Minister Saurabh Patel.

He said the government will not interfere in business-to-business (BtoB) meetings to be held between foreign and local companies during the two-day event, slated to start from January 11.

“Through an online form, foreign companies can inform us about who they want to meet during the summit. Using that information, we can approach suitable local companies and arrange a place for their meeting during the summit. As a facilitator, we may not even know what they discussed. This is the whole idea of providing global investment platform,” said Patel.

He said no MoUs will be signed between companies and state government during VGS.

“MoUs will be signed only between two governments or between any of their departments. Corporates will have to sign Entrepreneurship Memorandum (EM) with state government or any other company, which reflects their intention to do business here,” he added.

The focus of the 7th edition of the summit is inclusive development.

Vibrant Gujarat is the name given to a biennial investors’ summit being held by the state government. The event is aimed at bringing together business leaders, investors, corporations, thought leaders, policy and opinion makers etc.
