Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan will be flying kites on Uttarayan day in Ahmedabad with Chief Minister of Gujarat Anandiben Patel.

Every year, 14th January is celebrated as kite flying day across Gujarat. Millions of Gujarati people are found atop their houses. They fly kites during day time, and tukkal in the evening. Kite flying is so popular that it continues even on the next day, which is celebrated as ‘Vaasi Utran’.People at some places people also burst crackers in the evening. Eating Khichdo, Undhiyu, Tal Sankli, Sherdi and Bor atop the house is common on these two days.

This day therefore could be an ideal day for a film-star to promote his film. Bachchan has therefore chosen Uttarayan to promote his film ‘Shamitabh’. He will fly kite and later will also address a press conference in a farm resort on Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar highway.

Amitabh Bachchan 72, who is the brand ambassador of Gujarat Tourism has in past done some kite flying in wall city area of Ahmedabad during the course of shooting of an ad film featuring Uttarayan festival for Gujarat Tourism.

With a visit to Ahmedabad, Shri Bachchan will embark on a multi-city tour for the film.

“Ahmedabad first on 14th… Then a host of other cities – Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Dubai, London and perhaps Pune. These are informed promotion acts by authorities that make them…”

“They may all come out true or may just fade away with some drastic last minute changes… Beware… But I do sincerely hope they do not,” Bachchan posted on his blog.

Also starring Dhanush and Kamal Haasan’s younger daughter Akshara in key roles, the R Balki movie is set to release on February 6.

Bachchan, who worked on promoting the cause of girl education, shot Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Piku’ in Gujarat.
