Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sedate suit that he was wearing during a lunch with American president Barack Obama on 25 January is in discussion globally for its special design.

Modi appears to be wearing a pinstripe suit, but zoomed-in photographs reveal the stripes are actually letters repeatedly spelling out Modi’s name.

Contrary to news reports that suggest this suit could be purchased from some global fashion company, the fact is that this suit was made by Ahmedabad based Chauhan brothers who run Jade Blue Lifestyle India Limited, headquartered in Ahmedabad. Jade Blue is known for ‘Modi Kurta’. It has copyright to use Modi’s name for its Kurta brand. Chauhans are Modi’s dress designer and supplier for last many years.

In another news, the turban that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was wearing throughout the Republic day parade in Delhi was offered to him by Ahmedabad headquartered Maninagar Gaadi Swaminarayan Mandir.

A group of saints from Maninagar mandir led by Mahant Bhagwadpriya Swami went to Delhi by air and offered a traditional headgear to Shri Modi early in the morning on Republic day. Saints of this mandir have mastery of tying traditional headgear which is called ‘saafo or fento’ in Gujarati. They have tied ‘saafo’ to Modi’s head on number of occasions in past too.
