Vintage car exhibition steals show at VADFEST

A two-day Vintage car exhibition held at the Vadodara International Arts & Culture Festival (VADFEST) here was the cynosure of all eyes at the fest with 54 vintage cars put up for the show.

The exhibition that concluded yesterday had classic cars ranging from Rolls-Royce 1929 model to Chevrolet Phaeton 1933, alongside a century-old Indian motorcycle, VADFEST organiser Amit Bhatnagarn said.

He said that the car exhibition was aimed at increasing awareness about the importance of preserving heritage vehicles and provide the right platform for owners to showcase their vintage cars and its grandeur to masses.

The exhibition saw a large number of visitors not only the state but from abroad as well.

An office bearer of the festival’s organising team, Aditi Tiwari said the 54 vintage cars included Rolls Royce 1929 model, Ford 1926 model, Morris Minor Tiger 1951, Aavon SS 1933, Chevrolet Phaeton 1933, Morris 1946 model, Ford 1947 model, Ford jeep 1932, Mercedes Benz and eye-catchers Buick 1947 model that was once used by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and 1926 Ford Model T.

One of the vintage car owners, Nitin Dossa from Vadodara, who had put up his classic Hudson 1933 on the show, said that he has participated in several such shows but the venue of VADFEST show (Shiv Mahal Palace) was one of the best as it was giving a royal look to the cars and complying to the mood of the old era, the cars belonged to.
