Gujarat govt approves 25 new CHCs, 60 new PHCs

Gujarat government has given approval to 25 new community health centres(CHC) and 60 primary health centres(PHC), said state health minister Shri Nitin Patel today.

Sharing the details, the minister said Chhota Udepur and Kutch district will get 3-3 new CHCs while Arvalli, Banaskantha, Dahod, Dang, Panchmahal will get 2-2 CHCs. Bharuch, Gandhinagar, Gir Somnath, Kheda, Morbi, Sabarkantha, Surendranagar, Vadodara, Valsad will get 1-1 CHCs. Thus there will be new CHC in 25 talukas of 16 districts. Out of which 13 will be in tribal areas.

Sharing the details about PHCs, the minister said, Dahod will get 20, Tapi and Chhota Udepur will get 5, Valsad, Surat, Sabarkantha, Arvalli wil get 4, Banaskantha, Panchmahal will get 3, Narmada and Mahisagar will get 2 thus total 30 tribal talukas of 12 districts will get 60 PHCs.

Minister Patel further said each CHC will involve expenditure of Rs. 3.55 crore. Thus total 25 CHCs will come up at a total cost of Rs. 88.75 crore while each PHC will involve Rs. 1 crore cost, and therefore 60 PHCs will come up at an expenditure of Rs. 60crore.

He said total 675 posts are approved to serve new CHCs while new PHCs will open another 685 jobs.

CHCs will have operation theaters, X-ray and ambulance facilities. Each CHC will have 30 beds which will increase the number of total hospital bed availability by 750. New PHCs will have 6 bed facility, and in total addition of new hospital beds will be 360 across the state.

Patel said, new health facilities will offer better health services to interior areas of rural Gujarat.
