District administration of Sabarkantha will hold ‘Polo Utsav’ to promote tourism in Polo forest of north Gujarat. Polo Utsav will be celebrated once every year. The first edition of Polo Utsav will be inaugurated on 17 February by Chief Minister in presence of MoS Home Rajni Patel and Social Justice minister Ramanlal Vora.

Luxurious tent city, cultural events, cycling, trekking, fun rides, adventure sports, camel cart, bullock cart, horse riding, riverside walking, local handicraft exhibition and sale, jungle safari are some of the attractions at Polo Utsav. Mountain bike race, road cycling race and cycle carnival will be held during 14-16 March.

District administration wants Polo to connect to tourism circuit of Ahmedabad(163 km), Udaipur(112 km), Shamlaji(68 km), Ambaji(80 km) and Mount Abu(129 km). Support of private sector has been taken to make Polo Utsav successful. For the first time, the district tourism committee has published attractive English and Gujarati brochures to promote Polo forest as tourist destination.

Located on Gujarat-Rajasthan border, Polo is one of the best protected forest stretch with Cristal clear Harnav river flowing next to medieval period temples deserted centuries ago for some reasons. Polo is already one of the busiest picnic spot and camping/tracking destination. The district administration wants to further promote it to achieve next level of tourism activities.
