Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Ahmed Patel today unveiled a 9 ft bronze statue of Indulal Yagnik (Induchacha) in Sabarmati-Chandkheda area of Ahmedabad.

Indulal Yagnik led Maha Gujarat movement in late 1950s demanding separate Gujarat state.

Speaking at the function, Ahmed Patel said there are several things to learn from the life of Indu chacha. The foremost is the fight against injustice. Also from Indu chacha we should learn that to serve the people you don’t need a 56 inch chest but strong will power.

Ahmed Patel further said that the state owes so much to Indu Chacha but during the golden jubilee celebration of the state he didn’t see any poster of Indu Chacha.

He said superficial sense of “shine” created by use of public money will not do any good and shall hurt in the long run.

Speaking in a road side function attended by about 3,000 persons, Ahmed Patel said tomorrow parliament will start. The party’s strategy committee will take decision on what course should be taken. “But I can assure people of Gujarat that Congress will not support any policy which goes against the interest of the people,” he added.

On auction of Modi’s suit, Ahmed Patel said, “I don’t want to make any personal comment, but only want to remind Shri Modi what he said in a rally in Bengal. He had said he loves art but questioned who was paying so much money for Mamta Banerjee’s paintings which were auctioned? Now doesn’t the same apply to suit?”
