Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley in his budget speech today said, “I am delighted to report a good progress of DMIC corridor on the Ahmedabad – Dholera Investment region in Gujarat and another park in Aurgangabad that are now in position to start work of basic infrastructure in the current year. I have earmarked an initial sum of Rs 1200 crore and as pace of expenditure picks up I will provide additional sum.”

To be created around the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) with financial cooperation from Japan, the project has already attracted attention.An SIR is different from an SEZ (special economic zone) —it is bigger and is not merely export-oriented; instead offers a range of services.
