Highest number of Muslims from Gujarat to go to Hajj this year, thanks to the Govt

Quota for Hajj allocated to Gujarat is just 3,124 against which the applications received were 51,138 this year.

This is not unusual in Gujarat. Muslims are by and large far more properer in Gujarat compared to other states, and they regularly show such enthusiasm for journey to Mecca. With new government in centre, a new decision was taken this year which shall give opportunity of Hajj Yatra this year to more than double the number of Muslims in Gujarat through Hajj committee.

After representation made by Director of Hajj Committee of India Ilyaskhan Pathan and Government of Gujarat before centre, vacant quota of other states has been allocated to Gujarat and Kerala. There are some states where applications received for Hajj were lesser than the approved quota. Such vacant quota has been now transferred to Gujarat and Kerala, the states that have received far more applications than approved quota.

It is for the first time in the history of Hajj Yatra that as many as 6,272 pilgrims will go to Hajj through Gujarat State Hajj Committee.

Those above 70 years age and those who have been applying for Hajj for last four-five years are to be given priority.

With additional 937 pilgrims total 6,103 who are above 70 age are confirmed for Hajj in year 2015. For other applicants there will be draw on 26 March. Those applying continuously for last four years will be given priority.
