4th round of unseasonal rain this year likely on 29-30 March in Gujarat

Ahmedabad/Amreli

Fourth round of unseasonal showers is coming soon in Gujarat. In fact in some corners of Gujarat it has started already.

For last two days, certain areas of Amreli district in Saurashtra region of Gujarat are experiencing unseasonal showers.

On Friday, Juna Vaghania village in this district experienced thunderstorm and mini cyclone that uprooted some trees. Botad town witnessed drizzle while Kunkavav witnessed light shower.

According to Shri Jayant Sarkar who is heading Ahmedabad office of Weather department, isolated places of Gujarat region and interior Saurashtra will witness light rainfall with thunderstorm on 29-30 March due to impact of western disturbances.

Sarkar has predicted earlier two spells of unseasonal rains in recent past correctly.

Frequent rounds of unseasonal rains prove dangerous for standing crops not just in Gujarat but across the nation. Unfortunately, this is one thing against which government or anyone has no protection or remedy.

In present calendar year, unseasonal rains were first experienced on 21 January followed by another spell on 1 March(continued for two-three days) and one more round on 12 March.

Weather experts describe it as effect of ‘western disturbances’, which is one of two terminologies they often use. The other terminology they use on occasions is ‘Upper air cyclonic circulation’.
