Rs 93-crore projects for Ahmedabad city started/commissioned

Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today called for carrying out intensive cleanliness campaign in all the cities and towns in the state from May 1 to 15, 2015, describing this call as a significant step towards ‘Clean Gujarat; Healthy Gujarat’.

Speaking at a function to mark commissioning of ongoing projects or laying foundation stone of new projects worth Rs.93-crore here this evening, she sought citizens’ cooperation in the efforts of municipal corporations and municipalities in this massive campaign.

The projects include a flyover worth Rs.40-crore, an anganwadi and urban health centre near Sarkhej at a cost of Rs.3-crore, and a primary school at Ognaj, built by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), a garden near Science City from Local Area Development grants of Lok Sabha Member L.K. Advani.

She said that the government is committed to ‘Sauna Saath; Sauna Vikas’ for ‘Inclusive Growth with Collective Efforts’ in providing civic amenities and also health, education, women’s empowerment, and also playgrounds, amusement parks and gardens. She asked banks to ensure women’s empowerment, adding that women are known to be more punctual in loan repayment.

The Chief Minister will launch a statewide intensive medical checkup campaign from June 1 to 15, 2015 for serious diseases like cancer, diabetes, dental, cleft lips. She described Mission Indradhanush and Child Immunization as essential for the new generation.

Ahmedabad Mayor Meenakshiben Patel gave details of pro-people projects being undertaken by AMC.

Those present on the occasion included Member of Parliament Kirit Solanki, Municipal Commissioner D. Thara, DDO Bhargaviben Dave, MLAs of Ahmedabad, office-bearers of AMC and public.

Gujarat CM assures cent per cent drainage facilities in all urban areas in the coming years

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today expressed her resolve to provide cent per cent drainage in the state’s municipal corporations and nagarpalikas.

While laying foundation stone of systematic drainage line at Ognaj in western Ahmedabad, she talked about promulgation of laws for agricultural land in the state, being pursued after a long time, necessary for the changing time.

Those present on the occasion included Ahmedabad Mayor Meenakshi Patel, Deputy Maypr Bipin Sikka and Standing Committee Chairman Pravinbhai Patel among others.
