CHARUSAT to launch Institute of Astronomy-Astrophysics

Charotar University of Science and Technology(CHARUSAT) at Changa in central Gujarat will be the first institute in Gujarat to offer courses in astronomy and astrophysics, and first in India to offer an undergraduate course in the subjects.
Dr Mohanbhai I Patel Institute of Astronomy-Astrophysics , basic sciences and technology will be established for this on the CHARUSAT campus by Dr JJ Rawal led Indian Planetary Society(IPS) which is recognized at a scientific and industrial research organization by the Government of India. A self-financed institute will offer courses in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Earthquake Science, Cosmo-Chemistry and more.
The institute will be functional during the upcoming session. The registration process will begin in mid July, and the seats intake for all the courses will be kept at 30. The institute will hold an international conference on various aspects of the universe during June 21-24 to observe the centenary year of Albert Einstein’s Theory of Relativity and birth centenary year of Professor Sir Fred Hoyle.
CHARUSAT plans tot invite Nobel laureates and scientists and set up stellar, solar and earthquake observatories through soon-to-be-opened Smt Mangalaben Harish Raval Centre of Solar Studies and Solar Observatory.
