When there’s police case against Minister’s son, govt response is highly watched

Gandhinagar

This one is a shameful chapter for Gujarat government.

A Minister of state Parshottam Solanki’s son Hiren Solanki, minister’s bodyguard Vishal Solanki and Jayesh Solanki thrashed a youth Sujal Shah outside Jay Bhavani Fast food in sector 21 in Gandhinagar. Sujal working as manager in Jay Bhavani Fastfood parlour was beaten up after brief verbal argument when Solankis were visiting the place where Bhavani fastfood parlour is located. The incident of three Solankis beating up Sujal Shah was captured in CCTV.

It was good that Sujal who belongs to middle class collected strenth to file police complaint. Police however didn’t mention Solanki’s name and described attackers as unidentified persons. Sujal and his father were told by commoners that one of three attackers was son of Parshottam Solanki, but neither Sujal nor his father was sure about his identity.

In this case there were two weak links for Solankis who attacked Sujal. 1. The incident was captured in CCTV, and 2. registration number of car in which three Solankis arrived was noted down and the car was owned by Falguni Parshottam Solanki.

When media took note of the incident and minister’s son’s involvement emerged clearly through CCTV footage and car number, police went to the hospital and took statement of victim Sujal Shah who was admitted there. Police also got permission to question Minister’s son Hiren Solanki from court.

However Hiren was not arrested. The other two Solankis involved in this incident of clear goondagadrdi in broad day light – Vishal and Jayesh surrendered before police on Monday and got bail on Tuesday. But Minister’s son Hiren remained untouched.

Yesterday there was a shameful twist. One of accused Vishal Solanki filed counter complaint against victim Sujal Shah under attrocity act.

Victim Sujal is therefore now facing atrocity case which is being inquired by SC/ST cell DySP AB Vataliya.

It is interesting to note that Sujal’s police complaint on day one clearly mentioned that attackers were unidentified three youths. Sujal was not even aware about the names and caste of attackers, how can abuse one of them with casteist remark? This case is therefore apparently seen as an attempt to pressurize Sujal Shah.
