1981 batch Gujarat cadre Indian Administrative Service(IAS) officer GR Aloria today took over as new Chief Secretary of Gujarat state. Farewell for outgoing Chief Secretary DJ Pandian(retired due to age) was held on this occasion.

Aloria who is from Jaipur in Rajasthan started his career as IAS officer as Superintendent Assistant Collector, Rajkot. He later served as DDO, Collector, Deputy Secretary, Senior General Manager, Municipal Commissioner, Housing Commissioner, OFS, Commissioner of Transport, GSRTC Vice Chairman and MD, Joint MD of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited, Principal Secretary of Urban Development and Urban Housing and Additional Chief Secretary of Home department.
