Somnath

One of the trustees of Shri Somnath Trust, Jivanbhai Parmar(JD Parmar) has in a letter to Secretary of Shri Somnath Trust, PK Laheri(former Chief Secretary,Gujarat state) opposed the decision of implying restrictions on entry of non-Hindus in Somnath Mandir campus.

Speaking to media persons in Somnath, JD Parmar said that the decision on non-Hindus related regulations was taken by Laheri himself and not by Shri Somnath Trust.

With effect from 1st June, non-Hindus need to take permission for entry inside Shri Somnath Mandir. Notice boards in this regard have been put outside the entry point.

Parmar who server Shri Somnath Trust for last fourty years said, the decision had been taken by Shri Laheri on his own, and only he was responsible for this decision.

Parmar said, Shri Somnath Trust manages 65 temples, but such decision was never taken in past for any of the mandirs.

He said when Pran Pratishtha Mahotsav of newly constructed Somnath Mandir took place, local Brahmins refused to perform puja as they were against entry of people belonging to all castes to Mandir. Shri Digvijaysinhji Jam Saheb had then taken decision to call Brahmin pandits from South India to perform puja. He made it clear that this mandir will allow entry to all without discrimination.
