Somnath Mandir to become centrally Air Conditioned
July 07, 2015
Somnath
First Jyotirlinga Shri Somnath Mandir will become fully air conditioned soon. The project is brainchild of former Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel led Shri Somnath Trust’s Trustee and former Chief Secretary of Gujarat Shri Pravin Laheri.
According to correspondent Minakshi Bhaskar Vaidya, the project will convert Sabha Mandhap and Garbha Griha of Somnath Mandir into air conditioned place. At present, steel pipes(air ducts) are being laid inside the mandir to carry cool air. Three Air Condition machines – each having 65 tonne capacity – are being installed on the first floor of Mandir. Cable laying work is in progress on day-and-night basis. Testing of AC system may take place within this week on arrival of a team of engineers from Ahmedabad. After testing of the plant possibly this week or next week, the AC system will be made fully functional when Trust decides to do so. It will offer ‘Kailash Parvat’ like cool air in Jyotirlinga Mandir which is located right next to the sea. Three entrances of Mandir will have air freshener facility to disallow outside air to enter when AC plant is functional. Thus there will be no need to shut down the entrances when AC is on.
