Validity period of Income Certificates extended to 3 years:Gujarat CM

Gandhinagar

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today said that in the recent past, Government of Gujarat had extended validity of Income Certificate for Socially and Economically Backward Classes and OBCs from one year to three years.

She said, “moving further towards simplifying procedures for good governance, three years income certificate validity is now extended to every citizen in Gujarat.”

She further said, “through extension in validity of Income Certificate, citizens will now be able to have easy access to all the schemes across 26 departments of Government of Gujarat.”

Official note:

In a significant decision to simplify administrative process, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today said that the annual income certificate submitted by the beneficiaries of welfare projects all the 26 departments of the state government will be valid for three years.

In a communication, it is explained that the beneficiaries need not submit the annual income certificate every year. The prevailing system demanded that the beneficiaries file fresh income certificate every year for availing benefit of any programme in the following years, too.

It may be recalled that the Chief Minister had recently relaxed the rule of filing income certificate for educationally and socially backward classes every year to once in three years. She had also relaxed the rules for submitting relevant documents by self-attestation.

These decisions are sure to save the beneficiaries from the trouble of filing the certificate every year, as well as reducing the workload on the officials.
