Dawood Ibrahim in Pakistan: TV channel contacts wife

New Delhi

In the telephone conversation aired by Times Now, a reporter called the number of Dawood Ibrahim’s wife in Karachi and asked whether she was indeed his wife Mehjabeen Shaikh. A woman’s voice replied in the affirmative.

The woman further said Ibrahim was asleep before the conversation ended abruptly.

A little while later another reporter from the channel called the same number. This time the woman at the other end was evasive and asked the reporter to call again later.

This comes a day after Hindustan Times reported that Indian security agencies had documents to prove Ibrahim, his wife Mehjabeen Shaikh, son Moeen Nawaz and daughters Mahrukh, Mehreen and Mazia are based in Pakistan with the mob boss operating out of the upscale Clifton neighborhood of Karachi.

HT also published Ibrahim’s latest photograph which indicates that the 59-year-old crime lord has a receding hairline, is clean shaven and has not undergone any facial cosmetic surgery.

The security agencies are in possession of an April 2015 telephone bill in the name of Mehjabeen Shaikh with D-13, Block-4, Karachi Development Authority, Sch-5, Clifton as the installation address.

Ibrahim, who has three known Pakistani passports, has two more residential addresses (6A, Khayaban Tanzeem, Phase 5, Defence Housing Area and Moin Palace, II floor, Near Abdullah Shah Ghazi Dargah, Clifton) in Karachi.

Interpol has a red corner notice, or an international arrest warrant, out against Ibrahim and a host of his associates for their alleged involvement in the 1993 blasts that killed 257 Indians and injured hundreds more.

Earlier this week, Pakistan high commissioner Abdul Basit said there was no question of his country handing over Dawood as he was not in his country.
