The request for official permission to the much hyped ‘reverse Dandi March’, a 350 km long proposed on foot journey from Dandi to Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad (just opposite to the course that Mahatma Gandhi undertook 85 years ago to challenge the salt law of British regime) by Hardik Patel, the convener of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) slated to begin tomorrow and the same for two protest rallies against this has been rejected, Navsari District Collector Ms Remya Mohan said today.
‘We have rejected all the three applications. The one from PAAS, another from one Kaushik Patel, a representative of the 70 nearby villages for Pratikar rally or protest march against the PAAS agitation and yet another such request from the local fishermen community have all been rejected. We have also ordered the ban on mobile internet services from mid night tonight to check the rumour mongering. The prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CRPC are already in place,’ the collector said.
Meanwhile, Navsari SP M S Bharada said that in the wake of the situation adequate security measures have been taken. ‘ Apart from local police we have also deployed four companies of the paramilitary including the BSF and CRPF,’ the SP said.
