Gujarat to host 13th edition of Green Building Congress

The 13 th edition of Green Building Congress 2015, an International Conference and Exhibition of environment friendly structures would be held from November 19 to 21 this year at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.

Over 2000 national and international delegates would attend the mega event, South Asia’s biggest event on green buildings. Over 100 innovative and futuristic green products and technologies would be displayed during the Conference.

Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) which was formed in the year 2001 as a part of the leading Industry body Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with the vision too enable a sustainable built environment for all and facilitate India to be one of the global leaders in the area by 2025, will organise the conference.

Addressing a press conference here today IGBC Chairman Dr. Prem C Jain said that the event as an effort to further advance the Green Building movement in the country is supported by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Forest and Environment Department, Government of Gujarat and Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT).

The council offers a wide array of services which include developing new green building rating programmes, certification services and green building training programmes, Mr. Jain said adding that the IGBC foresees that the next 10-20 years will be the decade of integrated sustainable built environment.

This presents an excellent opportunity to design all urban habitats as green from day one and influence the way of life of people who live in such cities. Green Smart Cities would be a perfect combination of modern technological innovations and sustainable practices, he added.

Dr Jain informed that presentations, discussions at Green Building Congress 2015 would be focusing on how to take forward the National agenda of ‘Green, Smart and Healthy Cities’. The event would also discuss on how to tap emerging growth opportunities, he said.
