Mumbai

After a long time, there’s one Gujarati film which is doing well in multiplexes across Gujarat and also in Mumbai and Pune in Maharashtra where Gujarati population is in good number. The film is ‘Gujjubhai the great’. Rarely it happens that urban area multiplexes show Gujarati film in prime-time. Gujjubhai the great has received this honor.

But fanatics in Raj Thackeray led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena(MNS) are not happy with screening of Gujarati film in prime time slot.

The Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has warned theaters against screening Gujarati and other regional language movies during prime time, saying the slot (between 6 pm to 9 pm) should be assigned to Marathi films only.

MNS women’s wing held protest programme in Gujarati populated Borivali area of Mumbai against screening of Gujjubhai the great at Sona Gold Cinema.

MNS women’s wing secretary Siddha More said, “we will hold protest against screening of Gujarati and other regional movies in prime time. Such protest will not be limited to only some area, but taken to all cities and entire state. If theaters and multiplexes fail to respond to our demand, we will adopt new ways to protest.”

Director of G7 multiplex Manoj Desai said if Marathi film can be screened in prime time slot, what’s wrong to show Gujarati film?

Failed in all recent elections, state-specific leader Raj Thackeray led party continue to target Gujaratis and other communities in Mumbai on various occasions playing the card of Marathism. In recent past MNS workers had cooked chicken and demonstrated with pieces of meat at the venue of religious assembly of Jain community.
