A day before republic day, at least 30 Indian fishermen from Porbandar in Gujarat along with five boats have allegedly been captured by Pakistan Marine Security Agency (PMSA) today near International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) in the Arabian sea off Gujarat coast, National Fish Workers Forum Secretary Manish Lodhari today said.
Mr Lodhari said that the boats from Porbandar had ventured in to the sea for fishing four to five days ago. ‘All the boats are from Porbandar. We received messages from the fishermen regarding their capture this morningm’ he said.
He also claimed that the number of captured boats might be more than five. ‘We have initial information regarding the capture of five boats but the number might be up to 8 or 9 with five to six fishermen on board each of the boat. We are trying to confirm it,’ he said.
Earlier on December 20 last year 10 Indian boats with 68 fishermen were also captured by Pakistan Marine Security Agency off the Jakhau port of Gujarat.
He said that the PMSA had also caught almost a dozen Indian boats with over 60 fishermen in October last year.
