Confused Congress siding with anti-national forces: BJP

New Delhi

As Congress attacked the government over the police action following a JNU event, BJP today said that party was “siding” with anti-India forces which showed the frustration and confusion in its ranks.

“Rahul Gandhi is confused and Congress is frustrated. They are unable to digest the popularity of the Modi government. It is indeed height of negative politics that Congress has sided with anti-national forces to target the government,” BJP National Secretary Shrikant Sharma said.

“After anti-India slogans were raised and terrorists hailed as martyrs in JNU, Congress leaders were questioning why the government was not taking any action. Now the action is being taken, so they are opposing it. It shows their frustration and confusion,” he said.

The BJP leader accused Congress of using educational institutions like Hyderabad Central University and JNU, and students as political tools.

“Congress is poisoning the atmosphere in these institutions where thousands of students from poor background come for studies. They are India’s future. The opposition party should not use them for its political purposes,” Sharma said.

Rahul had yesterday visited JNU campus and accused the government of suppressing the students voice. BJP, in turn, accused him of speaking in the voice of LeT founder and terrorist Hafiz Saeed.

JNU row: RSS makes veiled attack on Cong, Left
New Delhi

RSS today made a veiled attack on Congress and the Left over their stand on the JNU row, saying some political leaders are “condoning anti-national acts instead of demanding action against them”.

RSS spokesperson Manmohan Vaidya also termed as “serious” what he claimed was students engaging in “anti-India activities” on the campus of a central university and some teachers supporting them.

“At the expense of exchequer money, instead of studying, students are involving themselves in anti-India activities and some teachers are supporting them. It is serious,” he said.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and Left leaders Sitaram Yechury and D Raja had yesterday met the students on the campus who are protesting against the sedition case slapped on the president of the JNU students’ union Kanhaiya Kumar.

Asked about their visit to the campus, Vaidya said, “Instead of condemning and demanding strict action against anti-national activities, some political leaders are condoning the act.”

The RSS leader also attacked the Left for leading the recent “pro Afzal Guru” demonstrations on the JNU campus. Guru was hanged following his conviction in the Parliament attack case.

“Left-led demonstrations at JNU in support of a terrorist convict, coupled ‘with anti-Bharat’ slogans on placards is a matter of grave concern,” Vaidya said.
