Shah Rukh Khan in Ahmedabad: Shooting peaceful but visit not uneventful

Over a dozen activists of Vishwa Hindu Parishad were detained today by police as they burnt Hindi film actor Shah Rukh Khan in effigy at Ashram road of city.

Earlier less than a dozen unidentified persons pelted stones over a black car parked in hotel at Ashram road in which Shah Rukh was staying. Shah Rukh was not in that car. CCTV footage captured the stone pelting act. Hyatt hotel manager has filed complaint in this regard in city’s Vadaj police station against ten unidenfied persons.

Shah Rukh participated in shooting of couple of scenes at Sarkhej Roja mosque and dargah campus. Over 200 cops including State Reserve Police jawan guarded the Roja campus.

Shah Rukh Khan is in Ahmedabad for shooting of film Raees in which he plays a role of 1980s decade Ahmedabad based late mafia and gangster Abdul Latif. The film is being made by Rahul Dholakia who earlier made controversial film Parzania based on Gujarat riots. The film has Pakistani heroine Mahira Khan pairing with Shah Rukh.

Shah Rukh is facing oppose in some quarters for his controversial remarks on intolerance. Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP) workers had asked district collector of Kutch in Gujarat early this month to withdraw the permission of shooting of Shah Rukh Khan and staged protest.

Shah Rukh and maker of his last film Dilwale had both admitted that the film collection was affected by protests pertaining to Shah Rukh’s intolerance remark and related controversy.

Meanwhile Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat Ahmed Patel who was in Ahmedabad today criticized the stone pelting incident and said Gujarat is a peaceful State, such act
