Gujarat Budget: 66,000 recruitment, free pills to Diabetes and BP patients, Rs 2/kg wheat, Rs 3/kg rice

Gujarat government is going to recruit whopping 66,000 in financial year 2016-17 as per the budget speech delivered by Finance Minister Shri Saurabh Patel today in assembly. Patel said this size of recruitment drive is happening for the first time in Gujarat. Out of 66,000 recruitment, over 17,000 will be in police department, 4,000 of which will be in traffic police.
In other major announcement, Patel today said government will provide free medicines to diabetes and blood pressure patients for life time at government facilities.
Making other big announcement, Patel said, changes in public distribution system will be effective from 1st April this year. Beneficiaries will get wheat for Rs 2/kg and rice for Rs 3.kg. Over 3 crore will benefit from this.
In another announcement, percentile and income limits for beneficiaries of Mukhya Mantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana are modified to cover more students.
Rs 1,000 crore non-plan roads are announced under Rs 2,500 crore Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana which is to be introduced this year. In 3 years Rs 10,000 crore will be spent under this Yojana, of which Rs 2500 crore will be spent this year.
Farmers will get upto Rs 3 lakh lending for Kharif crop at 1% interest rate.
For the first time 2 lakh tonne fertilizer will be stocked by State govt company. It will be stored at 50 places. This will avail smooth supply of fertilizer to farmers.
