Gandhinagar

Punsri village in north Gujarat has established several benchmarks in the area of rural development. The motto of Punsri Gram Panchayat and its head (Sarpanch) Himanshu Patel is very simple. The government has ample number of schemes and programmes and fund for that for rural development. It is a village panchayat that has to have zeal to utilize these schemes and fund.

In latest Punsri has taken proper advantage of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet Mudra scheme.

Around 75 shop and galla owners in Punsri village have been given in-total Rs 37,50,000 (37.5 lakh) loan which comes to Rs 50,000 to each beneficiary.

Till date, not even one beneficiary has missed installment for repayment of loan to bank. The village has achieved zero NPA(non performing asset) status.

Take an example of small shop keeper Lakshmanbhai Prajapati who has witnessed increase of Rs 2,000 in his revenue due to increased local business.

Apart from other efforts, the BJP government in centre is fulfilling its promise of delivering employment through this scheme. As per the figure mentioned in Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s speech at Kharagpur rally of BJP in West Bengal last week, as many as 3.30 lakh people have been disbursed loans totaling Rs 1.25 lakh crore under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojna.

Union Minister of State for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya recently said the Union government was planning to disburse loans to nearly 15 crore people under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana. He said the Union Budget allocates around Rs 1.85 lakh crore for this purpose.

“At present, there are nearly three crore people who have benefited through PMMY. The government intends to provide these loans mainly to the women entrepreneurs from the backward sections,” he said.

The PM Mudra Yojana under the Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency (MUDRA) Bank was launched last year for development and refinancing activities relating to micro units.

The scheme was announced by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in his budget for 2015-16.
