Chabahar move may save Rs 45,000 crore subsidy, cut urea price by half: Gadkari

Union Shipping minister Shri Nitin Gadkari while speaking at Somnath in Gujarat today afternoon said proposed Urea plant in Iran will make it possible to cut down the price of urea fertilizer by 50% and save Rs 45,000 crore subsidy for government of India.

Gadkari said, “recently I visited Iran with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. It is wellknown fact that Chahbar port of Iran is nearer to Kandla prot in Gujarat compared to the distance between Delhi and Mumbai.”

He said, “We get urea for 15 US dollar per MMQ. In our talks in Iran we were offered Urea for 2 US dollar price compared to 15 US dollar that we spend and we are still negotiating.”

He said, “I am sure urea price will be down by 50% for farmers if we build factory there in Iran. It will also make saving of Rs 45,000 crore subsidy for the Government of India.”

Gadkari was in Somnath to launch works for Somnath – Bhavnagar four lane coastal highway. He is going to visit Kandla port tomorrow.
