Project conceived and initiated by then CM Modi is progressing in slow pace

Bhuj: A project conceived by then Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Narendra Modi is almost in stalled condition in his absence. The Prime Minister when was Chief Minister of Gujarat had conceived ‘Smriti Van’ project on and around Bhujiya fort in Bhuj which is the district headquarters of Kutch.

It is learnt that Rs 155 crore project is progressing in very slow pace. The project kicked off in 2012 includes development of four km compound wall, boating facility, food court, check dams, plantation of 33,000 trees, sunset point and museum to attract tourists.

The project was to complete in February 2016 as per initial target, but as of now it seems even first phase works will take months to complete. It is learnt that the project is facing fund and payment issues. While some works are over, some other works are progressing in very slow pace.

Kutch is one of two districts in Gujarat that witness highest number of domestic as well as foreign tourists. Continuous process of adding new tourist attractions is very important. Shri Modi when was Chief Minister created Rann Utsav and Shyamji Krushna Varma memorial in Kutch. He also propelled development of tourism infrastructure over Kalo Dungar and Dhordo. Bhujiyo Dungar project if completed efficiently, can add one more tourist attraction to Kutch.
