Gujarat CM dedicates Mahisagar forest being developed by Forest department

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today dedicated 6 hectare Mahisagar Van developed by forest department in Mahisagar district of central Gujarat. Mahisagar forest has 4,000 trees and plantation of 85,000 plants. Sardar Patel’s statue was garlanded on this occassion while Rishikumars from Petlad chanted Vedic mantras. On this occasion, Minister of State for Forests Bachubhai Khabad said Gujarat has 30 crore trees outside the forest area. The figure will be scaled up to 35 core by 2022. Chief Minister in her speech announced Rs 10 crore special grant to Anand district for standing first among 33 districts and 8 cities for planting maximum trees. Half of this special grand will be utilized to develop Mahisagar forest as tourist destination. Chief Minister announced plantation of 3 crore trees on the banks of river Narmada in the month of August.
