Heavy rain and flood-like situation in Valsad – Vapi – Dang – Navsari belt, rail traffic affected

Surat: There has been flood like situation in southern Gujarat belt of Valsad and Vapi due to heavy rain. Situation of alert has been declared in Valsad, Daman, Dadranagar haveli villages.

Vaghai – Saputara road has been blocked due to land sliding in Saputara ghat road. About two dozen villages are out of reach in this hilly district due to flooding Ambika river. Barkhandiya bridge has suffered damages.

Due to heavy rain in upstream areas of Madhuban dam, water level has reached 74.90 meter. 10 gates of Madhuban dam are opened in 3 meter measurement.

Dharampur in South Gujarat has witnessed 14 inch rain while Vapi and Pardi have witnessed 12 inch rain.

 

Auranga river is flooding in Khergam belt of Navsari district due to heavy rain during night.

Narmada district in Central Gujarat witnessed 3 inch rain last night. Another round of showers started pouring in the morning. Water logging has been experienced in Rajpipl town. Due to frsh inflow from upstream, new level of water in Sardar Sarovar dam is 120.21 meter. Another town in Central Gujarat Chhota Udepur has received heavy rain throughout the night. Dabhoi in Central Gujarat has also received heavy rain.

Many trains on Ahmedabad – Mumbai route are running as soil has washed away below the rail track. Bandra – Jaipur, Chennai – Ahmedabad, Gujarat Mail, Mumbai – Ahmedabad Duronto, Pune – Ahmedabad Duronto, Mumbai – Okha are some of the trains that are running late. Up trains were regulated at Ahmedabad due to track washout between Vapi- Bhilad on down line post midnight. Vapi – Bhilad up line movement started post 4.00 in morning. Down line rail traffic could resume only after 7.00 in morning.
