Gujarat, the land of lord Krishna’s rest, observing Jamashtami with fervour and gaiety, beeline of devotees at Dwarka/Dakor

Ahmedabad/Dwarka/Dakor: The festival of Janmashtami, the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, is being observed across Gujarat, famous as the land of his rest (Vishranti), with traditional fervour and gaiety today with thousands of devotees making a beeline in the two main temples of the lord in Dwarka and Dakor while lakhs are observing fast on the occasion.

Large number of devotees were also visiting other temples in various cities, towns and rural areas of the state including where special Jhulan and janmotsav events have been organized. The number of devotees will see a surge in the late evening as events till midnight to observe the birth of Lord Krishna will be held.

At Jagat temple or Dwarkadheesh temple in Dwarka and Lord Ranchhodraiji temple in Dakor, a large crowd of devotees assembled since early hours to see Mangala arti of the day. Many devotees including those who have come from far flung places from within and outside Gujarat are making it a point to attend all the aartis (four in case of Dwarka and five in Dakor) in one of the two temples they are visiting. The temples have been decorated specially for the occasion.

The two world famous Lord Krishna temples situated in Gujarat,are likely to see a steep rise of at least 10 folds in the number of visitors from their routine footfall today. At midnight the idols in both the temples will be decorated at their best with highly expensive ornaments especially used for the occasion.

Special ornaments would be used to decorate the idol of the lord Dwarkadheesh for special Krishna Janmotsav darshan from 12 pm to 230 am tonight.

At Dakor the temple will remain open the whole night, and the idol of lord Ranchhodrai ji will be decorated with ancient ornaments including an old crown made up of three to four kg of gold and other precious gems including diamond for the special darshan at midnight.

Security in and around the two temples have also been tightened up in the wake of the huge crowd on Jamashtami.
