MoS Shipping Mandaviya to visit Kandla port

Ahmedabad: Union Minister of State for Shipping, Chemical & Fertilizers and Road Transport Mansukh Mandaviya will visit Kandla port in his home state Gujarat on Monday (August 29) to take stock of the cargo handling, and storage and handling of imported fertilizers at one of the leading major ports of urea and other fertilizers in the country.

PA to the minister, Sagar Khimani today said that Mr Mandaviya, also a Rajyasabha MP from Gujarat, would visit Kandla port.
‘He will first chair a meeting of the local leaders of the ruling BJP including MP, MLAs and local body representatives of Gandhidham and then visit the Kandla port trust.’ Mr Khimani said.

Mr. Mandaviya would discuss the situation of cargo handling, storage and handling of fertilizers with the top officials of the Kandla port trust. He would also discuss the issue of development of Gandhidham colony.

Kandla port which is governed by the Kandla Port Trust is a seaport in Kutch District of Gujarat near the city of Gandhidham. Located on the Gulf of Kutch, it is one of major ports on west coast.

Notably, Mr. Mandaviya after assuming charge as minister on July 11, had said that fertilizers are now available abundantly and in time and he would work to improve the condition of farmers and the common man on priority basis.

Earlier he was also a Member of Parliamentary Committee on Petroleum and Chemicals and Fertilizers and was also Chairman, Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation Ltd from January 2011 to March 2012.
