Ambaji pilgrims to get insurance cover against any natural calamity

Palanpur: The world famous Ambaji temple in Banaskantha district of North Gujarat this year has insured the pilgrims against any natural calamity including storm, cyclone and earthquake.

Media Convener of the Shri Arasuri Ambaji Mata Devasthan Trust (SAAMDT), which looks after the affairs of the shrine, Ashish Raval today said that the trust has paid a premium to the New India Assurance company for insurance cover ranging from Rs 3 to 5 crore depending upon the circumstances and nature of calamity and extent of damage thus caused.

‘The insurance cover will be effective for the period of September 1 to 21 this year and in the 20 km radius from the temple,’ he said.

Mr Raval also said that in the first two days of the Bhadaravi poonam mela which is to conclude on September 16, a total of 435103 pilgrims have visited the temple which is 51 th shakti peeth of the mother goddess. In the first two days cash and kind offerings worth over 65 lakh 36 thousand has also been received by the temple.

Notably lakhs of devotees of Mata Amba from across the country and abroad visit the shrine every year during Bhadarvi poonam mela period.
